How to start walking towards the impossible
Possible steps to the impossible
What would you love to do or be, that seems completely impossible to you today?
A lot of people say, make a million £££s or live on the beach, something romantic manifested from a dream years ago that’s stuck. Maybe this dream is still relevant today or maybe you haven’t checked in with it or made a new dream in a while.
What would a fulfilling life look like for you?
If you knew you had even a 5% chance of succeeding at something impossible, would you be driven to go for it? What would you need to support you that is more than just willpower alone? Maybe the goal seems too far away and a 95% chance of failing seems like a hard mountain to climb.
What if you just took one step without a big plan?
Sitting, exploring and deciding where you want to get to can be a playground full of possibilities. What tends to stop us from staying in this playground is how easily we go into worrying and strategising exactly how we’ll get to the outcome. This is the part that blocks us and keeps us static. The chatter that tells us it is never going to happen, it’s too hard, we’re not good enough so there’s no point trying.
We give up on starting the process altogether.
We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them. — Albert Einstein
Maybe instead of setting a big goal, it’s easier to set a direction of travel. If my vision is to be healthy, then I can start heading towards that across a number of different paths. There is not one route ahead. The opportunities and experiences seem broad and wide. I can experiment with different ways to move forward simply one step at a time.
What impossible thing would you like to take a step towards?
